Famished road.

A stage adaptation of Ben Okri’s Booker prize-winning  novel “The Famished Road”  produced by Eager Artists in collaboration with Windybrow theatre (J’burg) Direction Roel Twijnstra & Jerry Pooe. Adaptation made by Liesbeth Colthof and Rieks Swarte, translation Tjerk Visser. First night 23 may 2013 in Windybrow theatre Johannesburg. After their successful adaptation of Zakes Mda’s novel “Madonna of Excelsior”, Roel Twijnstra and Jerry Pooe bring the Booker-prize-winning novel “The Famished Road” to stage. The show exploits the believe in the coexistence of the spiritual and material worlds that is defining African modern life. With the blessings of Ben Okri, the show was made after a long period of preparation with eight actors: Ntando Mccube, Bongomusa Shabalala, Philisiwe Twijnstra, Musawenkosi Shabalala, Nlanhla Zondi, Sxaxa Xolani Henema, Sanelisiswe Khumalo and S’phindile Myeni. With technical assistance of Mxolisi Ngubane.

Future life:  “The Famished Road” will perform at the State theatre in Pretoria from the 21st of April 2016 till the 30st. of April. In this serie of adapting African novels the next will be “Sleepwalking land”(Mia Couto), that will be presented at NAF 2016 from the 6th. of July till the 10th. of July.
