The House of Hunger

A stage adaptation of Dambudzo Marechera’s novel. It follows the life of a young disillusioned black man and his quest to find his identity. Originally set in the 1960s and 1970 in a colonial Rhodesia (Now Zimbabwe), the stage adaptation tries to present the universal and timeless qualities of this explosive master piece. By some mentioned as one of the most important texts to emerge from Southern Africa. The theatre adaptation, is an experience of music, words and images made and produced by Thambo Theatre producers together with DUT (Drama department) Durban. It premiers in Court yard theatre at the 12th. of May. HIFA Festival invited the production for its festival in 2016. Directed by Roel Twijnstra and Jerry Pooe.
