Twist international
The aim of Twist International is to use art as an unexpected and innovative means for poverty reduction. Twist International supports Twist organisations such as Twist projects in South Africa (www.twistprojects.co.za). This is a network organisation that consists of a dozen local partners (festivals, broadcasters, theatre schools, well-known writers and renowned theatre groups) that focus on capacity development of six community theatre groups. Twist projects focuses on the sustainable infrastructure for theatre aimed at social and medical themes such as HIV/AIDS, trafficking, migration and child abuse in South Africa.
Twist International now wants to implement this success formula in other countries. Two working visits have already been planned to Nepal (April 2012) and Uganda (January 2012) to investigate with local art institutions and institutions for development if a similar network organisation has future perspectives. Naturally the regional and national government of these countries will also be contacted.
